So Rita over at Chi-Town Cheapskate linked to this article on her blog about Target's across the country not giving people the full value for their coupons. Read it here Now if you have done couponing for awhile and been to the various message board, this does not surprise you. But what about the casual couponer, or that mother with the young child who is not paying attention during check out.
For me I try to understand what I am going to be spending, both before and after coupons, before I go to the store. My numbers may not be exact figures but more of a ballpark. If I have a lot of coupons I try and put them so the first will have the bar code at the bottom and the next will have the bar code at the top, etc. I do this so they are less likely to miss a coupon (cashiers are human). Before you leave the store check your receipt. If you know you used 10 $1 off coupons and you only see 8 on the receipt, you can go to customer service right then and there and fix it.
I am glad Target is finally working on this problem, though I really don't shop there often. It is upsetting to think how much "extra" money they made off coupons that were not redeemed properly.
What do y'all think?
