The early bird gets the worm....

So when shopping for Birthdays and holidays, if you don't properly plan, you can pay two or three times more than necessary. The retail game is setup to take advantage of the last minute shopper. In a system based upon supply and demand, prices tend to be higher the longer you wait. We all know the analogy of husbands going out on Valentines day to find a present last minute for their loved one. Not only does he have a lack of options he is stuck paying whatever the asking price is.

What I try and do is shop year round. Ever since the beginning of 2010 I have been buying and stashing presents for the people that I have to buy for. Here is what is done....

Icky teen"anger" son - Birthday done, xmas almost done
grandmother - B-day and Xmas almost done
Step Father - Done
Brother - not done yet, he is hard to shop for
Mom - almost done

I still have a couple months to finish up and now come December my budget won't take the oh crap xmas is here hit.

What kinda tips and tricks do you use for gift shopping?
