They can be IF they are for a product you normally use OR really want to try. In the last year I have gotten more into rebates. I combine them with sales at my local stores to maximize the benefits. For instance there was an SC johnson rebate a while ago that required you to purchase 3 items and you got $5 back and could do it three times. Heres what I did....
CVS had a deal buy $20 in Glade product get $10 back. They had the spray thingys for $4.99 ea.
I took 5 $4/1 coupons for the spray thingy (that I got from being a bzzagent) and got 5 spray thingys $.99/ea. I also bought a Gade candle for $6.99 (and you got 6.99 ECB back).
I paid $11.94 and tax for 5 spray thingys and 1 big candle. I got back $16.99 in Extra Care Bucks (CVS money). Then I went home and submitted for the sc johnson rebate which gave me another $10 in cash back.
So the trip actually made me money and gave me gifts to add to baskets for people. Thats how you can maximize your savings buy comboing rebates with sales.
