Random thoughts

So I am finally back from the Dr's and dinner with my Gram. While I was out and about I decided to look into how much my son's calculator was going to cost me. He is in Honors math this year (I'm so proud) and so they require him to have a TI-83 or TI 84 plus calculator. Imagine my horror when I am in Office max and the cheaper of the two (83) is on sale for $79.99 (Whaaaat). The TI-84 silver edition plus was $130.  As I was standing there in shock there was a gentleman who was buying the TI-89 ($150). We started chatting and he told me how he bought the TI 84 silver edition plus for his daughter last year and now she needed this new one. As we were joking about our kids bleeding us dry of cash he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He offered me last years calculator for $80. I probably could have haggled with the man, but I was so happy to save the $50 plus tax I went ahead and made the deal.  This just goes to show you that networking is your most important asset in being frugal.

On a side note, my son now needs to see a bone Dr for his broken big toe. I think he is now really grasping how bad his choice to kick my furniture really was. KARMA!
