I have alot of goals this year. I want to fix my teeth, maybe purchase a cheap used vehicles and a vacation to San Diego for my son and I (yes for BlogHer). Every time I think of all the money involved in doing these things, I want to crawl under my blankets and hide from the world. Remember this is on top of our living expenses. So I read this article and it has got me thinking...
This incredible woman took taking lemons and making lemonade to a whole new level. Faced with the possibility of loosing her job, in a troubling economy, she created a product made from what was essentially trash. She created a useful and stylish products, was green about it, and now it is carried in Williams Sonoma.
So how can we learn from this...
Well I like to believe we all have that special something that we are good at. Some of us are good with kids, some are good with numbers, others thrive in customer service. The possibilities are truly endless. The point is we all have something that we can capitalize on. With "outsourcing" becoming the "norm" we have to learn how to create a job that is relevant and profitable.
What is your "thing"? What ways can you improve so that you are taking full advantage of your capabilities? What is holding you back?
My answer: My thing would be fixing sick computers and shopping. I could start advertising to attract more customers to my computer clinic of sorts. I could look for shopping type jobs. What is holding me back would be procrastination. I am one of those people who will constantly take on new projects until I collapse from the weight of it all. I need to be more focused and determined remembering I control my destiny.
